ADHD Awareness: Setting Habits & Tips for Productivity!

This month, we celebrate the successes of those living with ADHD and raise awareness about ways to support those who face daily challenges. ADHD is not a result of laziness or lack of intelligence, rather a neurobiological condition that requires care and understanding. Staying productive with ADHD can be challenging, but with the right tools, it's possible to build helpful routines.

Here are a few tips to help you stay on track:

Set Habits✅

Using Prosper's habit tracking feature, you can create specific reminders for important tasks. For example, you can get notified everyday to take your medications to ensure you don't ever miss them. Other uses of the habit feature could be for exercise, sleep, assignments, self-care, and creative time. ADHD can make it hard to stay productive, but with the help of habit tracking you'll stay on track!

Limit Distractions🎧

A common symptom of ADHD is being easily distracted. To help you focus on homework or work projects, try putting your phone in another room. Set 30-minute increments to focus, and take short phone breaks as needed. Making sure you have a quiet study space or noise-cancelling headphones can also significantly reduce distractions.

Set Routines📅

Establishing a consistent morning and nighttime routine is crucial for staying organized and managing your time efficiently. People with ADHD often have difficulties prioritizing tasks and resisting impulsivity, but a well-structured routine can help reduce these symptoms. In the morning, try starting your day with a nutrient-dense breakfast, followed by writing to-do lists and doing some journaling. This can set a positive tone for the day. At night, consider winding down with a calming activity like reading, a bath, or following a skincare routine, and aim for an early bedtime to get enough sleep!

Journaling as Self-Therapy✍️

Journaling can be a helpful grounding practice to declutter the mind in the midst of ADHD's chaos. Writing down thoughts and feelings can improve emotional regulation and self-awareness. It's a way to gain insight into your own experiences, understand emotions, and even boost communication skills over time.
