Hi Prosper Fam! February is Black History Month! ❤️💛💚
This is a time when the strength, achievements, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history can be celebrated. As we reflect over the past, it is crucial to learn from the brave leaders who paved the way for change.
While we have made great progress towards equality, it is crucial to acknowledge that the fight for justice and equality is not over. Black history is intertwined through the various parts of our lives. From the groundbreaking accomplishments and the influential movements, remembering the past can help us move towards our ideal future. This month is not only about remembrance, but also educating ourselves, expressing gratitude, and taking meaningful steps towards progress.

Mental Health for Black and African-American Communities Mental illness can affect anyone regardless of race and history, but access to mental health treatment can be much worse for some. Stigma and lack of access to medical treatment are common barriers, however for minorities the barriers are even worse. This has prevented many from the treatment necessary for their mental wellness.
Some important facts:
Only 1 in 3 Black adults with a mental illness receive treatment
African American adults are 20% more likely to experience mental health issues than the rest of the population
African American teenagers are more likely to attempt suicide (8.3%) than are white teenagers (6.2%)
